Teenager in dock for alleged N5.5m theft

For allegedly stealing Gold jewelry worth N5.5 million, a teenager has been arraigned before a Lagos Magistrates’ Court, Tinubu.
The defendant, Mercy Odita, 18, a housemaid, at House 4, Road 8, Abraham Adesanya Estate, Ajah, was arraigned on two counts of conspiracy and theft under Sections 409 and 285 of the Criminal Laws of Lagos, 2011.
Prosecuting Francesca Okere told the court that the defendant conspired with others at large to steal the jewelry belonging to her employer, Ngozi Okeke.
Okere said the alleged crime was committed on February 10, at about 9am.
The defendant pleaded not guilty to the charge and was admitted to bail in N500 thousand with two sureties each in like sum by Magistrate A.T. Omoyele.
The matter has been adjourned to March 23, for mention.
